ABSTRACT

Objective@#To understand mental health status of middle school students in Weifang, and to analyze its association with health risk behaviors, and to provide a reference basis for the effective prevention of mental health problems.@*Methods@#Using the self-designed questionnaire and Kessler l0 (K10), a total of 3 185 middle school students in Weifang selected by using stratified clustered sampling were investigated. Chi-square test and binary Logistic regression was used for statistical analysis.@*Results@#Among the middle school students in Weifang, 1 634(51.3%) reported good mental health, 854(26.8%) in moderate level, 394(12.4%) reported poor mental health, and 303(9.5%) reported very poor mental health. Sleep duration and smoking were associated with mental health of middle school students (P<0.05). Logistic regression analyses showed that, compared with adolescents with sleep duration less than 8 h, mental health among students whose sleep duration ≥8 h was better(OR=0.36); compared with non-smokers, students who smoked showed worse mental health status (OR=3.53).@*Conclusion@#Health-risk behaviors are closely related to mental health of middle school students. Relevant departments should strengthen education and publicity of healthy lifestyles, and pay close attention to the impact of health risk behaviors on mental health.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the effect of combining Liuzijue qigong with basic articulation training in the treatment of patients with post-stroke dysarthria. Methods:A total of 60 stroke survivors with dysarthria were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, each of 30. In addition to basic articulation training, the observation group practiced Liuzijue qigong for 3 weeks while the control group received conventional breathing training. Before and after the treatment, both groups were evaluated using the modified Frenchay dysarthria assessment (FDA), and in terms of maximum phonation time (MPT), maximal counting ability (MCA) and a special assessment of speech breathing. Results:After the treatment, significant improvement was observed in all of the measurements in both groups, but there was significantly greater improvement in the observation group in terms of the effectiveness of the speech breathing treatment (80%) and that group′s average MCA and FDA values compared with the control group. Conclusion:Liuzijue qigong training is superior to conventional breathing training when each is combined with basic articulation training in improving the speech breathing function and speaking ability of stroke survivors with dysarthria. It is worthy of promotion and application in clinical practice.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#To investigate the differences of clinicopathological features, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis between patients with extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGIST) and duodenal gastrointestinal stromal tumors (DGIST).@*Methods@#A retrospective case - control study was performed. Case inclusion criteria: (1) tumor confirmed by histology and pathology; (2) primary tumor locating in the extra - gastrointestinal tract or duodenum; (3) without other synchronous tumors; (4) complete clinical and pathological data. Clinical data of 20 EGIST patients and 32 DGIST patients from March 2011 to September 2016 at Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine were retrospectively collected and analyzed. The observational parameters included clinicopathological characteristics, treatment and prognosis conditions. Continuous data of abnormal distribution were expressed as median (range) and compared using the Mann-Whitney U-test. Survival curves were drawn by the Kaplan-Meier method and compared with the Log-rank test.@*Results@#Of the 20 EGIST patients, 8 were males and 12 were females with age of 61.0 (30.0 to 86.0) years and of the 32 DGIST patients, 12 were males and 20 were females with age of 55.5 (27.0 to 70.0) years. Compared with DGIST patients, EGIST patients were older (U=188.000, P=0.012], had larger tumor size [10.0 (3.0 to 29.0) cm vs. 4.0 (1.5 to 10.0) cm, U=98.500, P<0.001] and higher ratio of high risk classification [85.0% (17/20) vs. 12.5% (4/32), χ2=26.870, P<0.001]. Among the 20 EGIST patients, 5 were diagnosed with distal metastasis and received imatinib (400 mg/d), and the other 15 patients underwent radical resection who were included in survival analysis. All the 32 DGIST patients underwent radical resection. The median follow-up of whole group was 43 (14 to 76) months. The 3-year recurrence/metastasis-free survival rate of 15 cases undergoing radical resection in the EGIST group was 85.6%, which was lower than that of the DGIST group (88.6%), and the difference was not statistically significant (P=0.745). There was no significant difference in the 3-year overall survival rate between the EGIST group (92.9%) and the DGIST group (100%) (P=0.271).@*Conclusions@#As compared to DGIST, EGIST mostly occurs in those with older age, larger tumor size and higher risk grade. The prognosis of EGIST patients after radical resection is similar to that of DGIST patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the discrimination against the patients with mental disorders and current situation of awareness of mental health knowledge of medical postgraduates and their relationship. Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among 132 medical postgraduates in October 2016 using the assessment scale of discrimination against patients with mental disorders and mental health knowledge awareness questionnaire, which derived from mental health work indicators survey and evaluation program issued by the General Office of the Ministry of Health in 2010.Results:There was significant gender difference (P <0.01)in the overall score and the score of each dimension of assessment scale of discrimination against patients with mental disorders, and the score of mental health knowledge was (13.93-± 3.13).There was significant negative correlation between scores of assessment scale of discrimination against patients with mental disorders and mental health knowledge.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that awareness of mental health knowledge could predict the discrimination against the patients with mental disorders and all its factors. Conclusion:Awareness of mental health knowledge in medical post graduates can predict the discrimination against the patients with mental disorders.Medical universities should carry out corresponding education and publicity work with pertinence.

ABSTRACT

Ischemic stroke is closely associated with carotid atherosclerosis.Detecting carotid plaque components (including fibrous Cap,lipid core, hemorrhage, and calcification) using high-resolution 3.0T magnetic resonance imaging contributes to evaluate the risk of ischemic stroke and guide treatment. This article reviews the research status of magnetic resonance imaging of carotid atherosclerotic plaque components.
